The Government of Zimbabwe through the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe has embarked on a project to establish the Zimbabwe Liberation War Museum at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.

Restoration work at Chipadze National Monument begun in earnest on 9 September 2018 with a team of archaeologists, Surveyors, stone masons and community members working round the clock to restore the monument. The restoration works are focusing on one of the outer southern walls.

The National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe is working on a project to restore collapsed walls on the southern terraces of the Hill Complex at Great Zimbabwe.

This year, National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe will join the rest of the World in celebrating International Museums Day; under the theme: ‘Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics’.

All roads lead to Mutare Museum on the 19 th of May 2017, to commemorate International Museums Day. On this day, museums throughout the world engage the public on a particular agreed theme that connote the role museums play as institutions that serve society and its development.
