This year, National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe will join the rest of the World in celebrating International Museums Day; under the theme: ‘Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics’. The theme is a clarion call to museums the world over to embrace the greatest computer mediated technologies as a new approach to reach the greatest number of people.
Calendar of events:
1st February to 22nd March, 2018: Primary Schools in all the country’s districts are having preliminary eliminating rounds of the Heritage Education Quiz Competitions in preparation for commemorating International Museums Day. Winners from these rounds will compete in the regional finals.
23rd March: All the five museum regions will be holding the Regional Quiz finals. Winners emerging from this round will proceed to the National Heritage Education Quiz Finals.
18th May, 2018: This year the International Museums Day Celebrations will be held at the Great Zimbabwe World Heritage Site on the 18th of May 2018 and the Quiz competitions, among many other activities; will be the highlight, conspicuous, enjoyable and memorable part of the event.
Please take note: We are all invited to come and participate in the activities of the day. This is a platform for the museum community members to come and mingle with the museum managers, curators and employees.
